Gayle and Terra live in a world where they are not at the top of the food chain. Monsters rule the land, and ending up in the clutches of a hungry carnivore is just a daily obstacle.
However, that's the least of their worries. Gayle and Terra need to find work, and end up finding it in the belly of a giant floating monster owned by Kaz, the Jester.
Not only does employment suck in this world, but so does belonging so low on the food chain.
