The team here at Comic Rocket loves creative community projects. We're delighted to see that people love what we're doing so much that they want to contribute!
We need to take care of a few little legal details to protect everyone, though. This should be common-sense stuff and I'm sure you won't have any difficulty with it, but do me a favor and read over it anyway please. kthx!
When you work on a community project, you are working independently. You are not an employee of or contractor for Comic Rocket. You own all copyright for your independent work and we make no claim on your copyrights. By the same token, of course, you don't get our copyrights either. If you ask us to distribute your work, you grant us all licenses needed for distribution and you warrant that you have the right to grant us those licenses.
We want to give you full credit for your work and tell everyone about it! We aren't obligated to promote your project, but it'd be kind of silly if we didn't. You give us permission to use your identity and contact information for the purpose of promoting your project. And although we may try to help folks out at our discretion, ultimately you are solely responsible for supporting your work.
If you want to use our trademarks or brand images, such as the name "Comic Rocket" or the Comic Rocket logo, or if you want to use our data, you need our permission. Just ask; we're friendly! We'll notify you of our approval by e-mail.
To count as a community project, your project must be non-commercial. That means, for example, that you won't insert your own ads and you won't charge for use of your project. (We encourage you to use an open source license, such as the GPL or BSD licenses, and host your work someplace public such as GitHub. But that decision is up to you!)
If you want to do something that doesn't fit these requirements, get in touch and let's put together a contract covering your specific case. And if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us. Thanks!
