Carl—a homeless, jobless, no friends, black sheep of his family— meets a shadow who has 'lost his person.'

Carl makes it his mission to reunite the dark figure with its owner. But as Carl pursues this crusade, he encounters people who have slighted him in the past and strangely one by one they begin dying. Is the shadow causing this? Could the grisly deaths extend to those few Carl actually cares about?
