And I saw thrones and they that sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them. And I saw the souls of them that had been beheaded for the witness of Jesus and for the Word of God, and who had not worshiped the beast, nor his image, nor had received his mark upon their foreheads or on their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

–Revelation 20:4, 21st Century King James Version
As unexpected as promised, Christ returned to judge the living and the dead sometime in the late twenty-first century.

Not everyone was happy about this.

Cunningly, over the course of human history, an inner circle of demons, supernatural creatures and witches had been preparing, planning and manipulating the most brilliant minds on the planet to develop technologies and programs that helped launch humankind into space, colonizing the solar system and putting them on the cusp of interstellar travel. When Judgment Day came, the group put their ultimate plan into action, and, with astronaut Captain Arthur Mercury as their leader, 13,000 God-Fearing men and women escaped His Wrath aboard the Willowark, an organic ship that held the sum knowledge of the human race and its time on earth.

The Lord dispatched a single angel, Fabius, to deal with the fugitives, and sealed the Solar System in a great impenetrable shield.
Many of the more powerful demons that did not require food or air broke away from the Willowark and scattered throughout the cosmos. Much of Fabius’ time was spent on tracking and executing these demons.
The crew of the Willowark was stunned when they came across an extraterrestrial sentient race, the Quarveil. But in their desperation, instead of making peaceful contact, they raided the Quarveillian research outpost and cannibalized their technology and resources.

If not for races like the pain-loving Gothams and the magic-wielding Delven, these fugitives would have faded into obscurity, but instead they thrived and multiplied, intermingling with these Other Races and building the Ohm Empire under the reign of the Phoenix family, descendants of Arthur Mercury.

In truth, Arthur Mercury and Adam-through-Alexander Phoenix had been the same man, the Vampire Azzi, created in the time of Nekau II (600 BCE), and the weight of all his sins, despite his best intentions, threatened to crush him. So he abandoned his 598 year old empire and chose, improbably, a path of sacrifice and humility. He took up an indefinite fast, and let the galactic winds blow him where they may.

Three hundred years later, the time of Christ’s Heaven on earth is coming to an end…

The Vampire Azzi would like one last audience with God before He and His Chosen leave Heaven on Earth for Heaven Proper. But the space vampire has drifted to the edge of the galaxy, so he’s going to need a ship to get to the interior. Enter Captain Sera Besh and her hypercurve ship the Bluebird. Along the way, they will enlist the help of the cybergremlin Kyton, who insists that they hunt down a few items to craft the Ultimate Weapon. They will need this weapon to penetrate the Godshield that harbors the Solar System from every alien, supernatural and mythological creature who would ask, “But what of Us? Why has God forsaken all his other stars?”
