A shape-shifting shaman and his army have made a warpath through Victorian England's countryside, but Ansel Brinksley, an energetic young huntsman in training, is determined to put a stop to him. Ansel isn't the only one on the shaman's trail, though: Rhyder the Red, a self-proclaimed hero, is on a mission to rescue his grandmother from the warlord's clutches, and he's not prepared to let a twerp like Ansel slow him down...
