Created in 2000, Spades is a finite series I created about a superhero with no memory, lost in a new world where nothing seems familiar, but what memory seems to recover is completely wrong.
Part horror, part mystery, part action, Spades is the answer to my own question to all Superhero comic tropes. It’s my experiment with taking the super hero idea, pumping it even more full of mythology and universal human questions and symbols, and seeing what I get. Spades started out as all my favorite things mushed into one, and removing everything I hated from the tired Superhero/Vigilante American comics I had grown up with.
Spades made it to book 4′s opening pages back in 2004 on Girlamatic.com.
It stopped for a brief hiatus, and the a massive edit ensued. Currently, the comic is offline and on hold.
Spades should return in 2012 with luck and inspiration.
