Splitting Borders is a sequential art blog. It is written by Gareth Gowran and Sadhbh Lawlor and illustrated by Gareth Gowran. Splitting Borders is about practice; practising drawing; practising writing; practising storytelling; practising collaboration; practising being in the moment and having a sense of humour; practising being a human being. It is also about making art purposefully and regularly. We allow our lives to live in our art in these short, brief, quick, quiet and pondering pieces. It is a departure for us from working for others; other people’s lives, other people’s stories and other people’s ideas. Of course we have always made art that was personal but maybe for the first time we are declaring our lives as the art. The challenge- tell a story a day, five days a week. The only limitations being imagination, paper, pencil and pen. Welcome to the world of Splitting Borders.
