Misanthrope Daniel Wachter inherits — not without coercion — the Chicago Harbor Light, which stands a mile off of Navy Pier. Bereft of decoration, plumbing or even floors, he decides to move in anyway, if only to escape the chaos of the city. A cable home improvement show comes to his rescue courtesy of the Coast Guard, but when one of the crew is almost killed, the verdict is ghosts. Daniel scoffs until his experiences get personal. Determined not to let his houseguest scare him off, he’s trying to carry on with his life as best he can, with uneasy results…
